Traveling To Vienna

Traveling To Vienna If you’re planning to travel to Europe and can’t decide where yet, you might want to consider Vienna, capital of Austria. Renowned as a cultural, economical and political center with the third highest quality of living in the European Union, Vienna has a great historical and cultural heritage. There is so much to see and discover while visiting the city.

One of the most spectacular places to see in Vienna is the Schoenbrunn Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area includes a large garden designed for walks and relaxation. The Schoenbrunn Castle once belonged to the Habsburg dynasty which ruled Austria for around six centuries. There is so much about Vienna, but here are just some opinions from those who have recently traveled to the city.

Tengyin’s Site quotes a women who has been recently traveling to Vienna with her family.

“Despite the short trip, this is still a large album cos there are simply too many beautiful things to capture here in Vienna. From the St. Stephan’s Cathedral to the Donau River on Sat and the Schoenbrunn Palace to Hofburg on Sun.

There is an interesting place recommended by our Australian pals, Gaye that we visited but photos not allowed. And that is the Catacombs, below the St. Stephan’s Cathedral. It’s where the coffins and tombs of cardinals and royalty are placed and it consists of the vaults of bones stacked up in various rooms beneath the cathedral too. I also particularly like the gardens of the Schoenbrunn Palace as well, unfortunately the Maze and Labyrinth are not open during winter.”

Vienna is also famous for its museums. More than 300 museums are located in the city. One of them is the Museum of Fine Arts representing world famous collections, among them art pieces of Dürer, Rubens, Titian, Velazquez etc.

According Across the Lane, the Belvedere museum is another amazing place to see.

“I went off exploring one of my favorite museums in Vienna- The Belvedere. The well-chosen name comes from the Italian refering to a vantage point with a beautiful view. When it was built in the 17th century as the palace of Prince Eugene of Savoy, it would have been considered to be in the country, but now it is located just outside the center of Vienna. It includes the Upper Belvedere, the Lower Belvedere, and the outstanding garden divided into several terraces. Various royal families have lived in the Belvedere, including Maria Theresa, Emperor Joseph II, and the Archduke Frans Ferdinand. Nowadays the Upper Belvedere houses works of 19th and early 20th c. art, and the Lower contains the Museum of Medieval Art, and the Baroque Museum.”
