Portugal Revealed

reveal portugal Portugal RevealedThey say Portugal is one of the poorest and oldest countries in Europe. Well, who denies that? It is old and perhaps poor, but if you want to have a quiet and serene vacation, it’s hard to find a place better that Portugal.

Every city, every village in Portugal is worth seeing. You will not find two cities or even two villages alike. Their architecture, lifestyle and even people are different. That makes your trip even more interesting.

There are several places in Portugal I advise you to visit regardless of your vacation duration and budget.

Algarve is at the top of my list of must-see places. When speaking of Portugal, Algarve with its capital city Faro is the first thing to cross my mind. The view of the city is incredible. Old cathedrals, churches and monuments together with modern architecture give the city a unique shine. However, the architecture is not the only thing to admire in Faro. Faro’s inconceivable sandy beaches will make your vacation unforgettable. If you are short on time and don’t want to waste it on transportation, there are numerous Faro car hire services that will help you. Their services are not very expensive, which means you can easily afford hiring one.

reveal portugal1 Portugal RevealedCastro Marim is another town in Algarve that impressed me greatly: sandy beaches, serene sea with graceful contour of flamingos, orange sun and a gentle breeze. Sounds like heaven, doesn’t it? Believe me, it’s a real paradise. Castro Marim’s flora is very attractive due to its rare species of flowers and plants. The climate there is temperate. Perhaps that is the main reason why the nature is so splendid there.

After you see Algarve and have a great time on its beaches, I advise you to have some more sightseeing in Braga, a city that is situated in the northwest of the country. That means you will have to cross almost the whole country to get to Braga from Algarve. Not an easy task, but the city is really worth seeing. Braga, which is the capital of the Braga district is a rather old city, full of sights to admire. In Braga, St Paul’s Church impressed me greatly with its baroque style and wood carvings. You will see its beauty only after entering it, as it is a very simple and plain building from the outside. I also advise you to pay a visit to the Santa Barbara Garden and admire the fountain of Saint Barbara, which is situated just in the middle of the garden. There you will undoubtedly understand why I have fallen in love with Portugal.

This is only a very small part of everything you will see and do in Portugal. When you visit the country you’ll discover new attractions for yourself and for others who hear about your fantastic trip.
