J’aime Paris au mois de Mai, which means “I love Paris in May” in French. Well, actually I love it any time of year.
Who doesn’t dream of going to Paris? Practically everyone who hasn’t been there does. And the luckiest ones, having already been there, are looking forward to their next visit. What magic does this city have that everyone admires? How does it enchant its visitors?
I guess it’s the combination of Gothic architecture, wide alleys, incredible parks, green gardens and proud Parisians. Nothing else in the world can compare with the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Notre Dame cathedral, Champs Elysees, L’Arc de Triomphe, Sacre Coeur, Montmartre and Musée d’Orsay. Nothing in the world can take the place of a single tour along the River Seine, especially at night, when the lights of the city are on, when the Eiffel Tower is magnificiently reflected on the river’s ripples.
Speaking of which, the Eiffel Tower is the very symbol of Paris. The tower, which was built for the World Exposition of 1886, is made of iron, just beside the River Seine on the Champs de Mars. It is the tallest structure in Paris. There are two world-famous restaurants in the Eiffel Tower: Altitude 95 on the first floor and the Jules Verne on the second floor.
While visiting Paris, one can’t help admiring the national museum of Paris, the Louvre, located on the right bank of the River Seine. The Louvre Palace, in which the museum is housed, was constructed in the 12th century. In the courtyard of the museum you will find three small pyramids and one large glass pyramid. The main entrance of the museum is situated at the large pyramid, which has also become a landmark of Paris.
The cathedral Notre Dame de Paris, is a real Gothic masterpiece. It was completed in the 14th century. It’s situated in the western part of the city and is the seat of the Archbishop of Paris.
Every part of the city is worth praising, and each building deserves particular attention. Don’t hesitate to see Paris.
