Travel agents and particularly airline staff see many travelers in dire straits because they did not take out travel insurance. No one expects to need it, but it is protection travelers should have. Whether or not an airline looses your bag or if you trip and sprain your ankle in a restaurant is completely beyond your control and can happen to anyone.
Good travel advice will not only come from travel agents though. Those with first hand experience can be a wealth of knowledge about the possible pitfalls of traveling.
