COSTA DEL SOL

La Quinta Golf & Country Club — situated in the heart of the Marbella Golf Valley, a mere 5 minutes from the fashionable resort of Puerto Banus on the Costa del Sol, La Quinta Golf & Country Club opened in 1989 with an 18-hole course designed by renowned professional Manuel Pinero. It has since been extended to a 27 holes with the replacement of several holes and the addition of an extra nine. The layout offers three possible courses, each offering views of the surrounding mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. Equipped with modern facilities, La Quinta provides a superb balance between modern and traditional, offering a superb ambiance for golf. Green fees for 2010 are 90 euros for 18 holes (100 euros with a shared buggy) and 58 euros for nine holes. Reduced rates apply for juniors under 15 years of age.

COSTA BLANCA

Villamartin Golf Course, designed by Paul Putman, is situated near the sea, between Torrevieja and Murcia airport, at San Javier on the south-eastern tip of the Costa Blanca. The par 72 course measures 6750 yards from the back tees, although four sets of tees make it suitable for all golfers. It is the best known and most established of the three courses in the Orihuela Costa area, the others being Campoamor and Las Ramblas. The championship layout hosted the 1994 Mediterranean Open and offers an impressive scenery. The front nine offers fabulous sea views, while the later holes are located in valleys, with ravines in play on several holes. Green fees are 55 euros for 18 holes and 30 euros for nine holes, with buggy hire available.

MADRID

Jardin de Aranjuez Golf Course is situated near the royal villa of Aranjuez, south of Madrid, the Spanish capital. The 18-hole, par 72 course measures 6,700 yards from the back tees, making it a decent test for the more accomplished player. However, two further sets of tees mean it is suitable for golfers of all abilities. The golf course is characterized by a wide variety of different holes, requiring a good deal of accuracy to negotiate the numerous lakes and bunkers. Green fees are 32 euros on weekdays and 52 euros at weekends.

ARAGON

Augusta Golf Calatayud is situated 50 km from Zaragoza. The 18-hole, par 72 course measures over 6,800 yards from the back tees and will test the best players, with its small greens and several holes close to 550 yards in length. Although there are only two lakes on the course, their strategic placement brings them into play on several holes, requiring excellent precision. Green fees are 25 euros on weekdays and 50 euros at weekends. Additional facilities include bar/restaurant, a pro shop offering club, buggy and trolley hire, a golf academy, extensive practice facilities, tennis and a swimming pool.
