Have you ever visited the museum that reveals the mysteries of a public figure’s life? If you haven’t, I would recommend you to visit Althorp in Northamptonshire, England, where Princess Diana was from.
Before I talk about Althorp I would like to say a few words about Princess Diana.
Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales, was said to be a very kind and positive person who was always in search of love.
She married Prince Charles, but it was not a happy marriage. Once in the interview for BBC Panorama she said: “There were three of us in this marriage.”
After her divorce with Prince Charles, Princess Diana concentrated on her charity work for drug addicts, young and elderly people. She was called the People’s Princess.
She always said that it was not easy to be a princess, but she was learning how to cope with difficulties.
Princess Diana died at the age of 36 in a car crash, but people still remember their princess.
There is an exhibit dedicated to charming Princess Diana in Althorp House, Northamptonshire, where she is buried.
Althorp has belonged to Princess Diana’s family for five centuries. It has many rooms, 19 of which are open to visitors. You can see a fine collection of ceramics, pictures and furniture there.
The exhibit was opened in 1998 on her birthday–on the first of July. Many people came to pay tribute to Princess Diana. One of the visitors–Shirley Norgrove– said: “The real loss is only just sinking in. People are only now realizing how much good she did.” It’s really sad that she died so young.
Althorp is one of the most interesting British museums. Princess Diana’s childhood letters, dresses and many other things can be seen there. You can also find her famous bridal gown there and learn more about the details of her charity work. There is also a souvenir shop and a restaurant for visitors.
A beautiful green park surrounds Althorp , where many people picnic and enjoy its beauty.
