Medical Tourism – New Trend In Marketing Travel
Marketing travel comes up with a new trend called “Medical Tourism,” the idea of traveling to a particular destination in order to receive medical care or treatment. Accordingly, the travel agencies plan the medical trips rather precisely, trying to provide their customers with all the necessary services.
The most commonly sought-after medical treatments involve joint replacement, dental surgery, some cardiac surgery and cosmetic surgery. Tourism marketers try to develop tour packages which might also include more leisure activities for the customers.
According to Content of Reprint the tendency of travelling for medical treatment dates back to ancient Greeks.
Traveling for medical treatment is not something new; in fact it dates back to the ancient Greeks. The Greeks believed that Asklepios, the god of healing, looked favourable on those that travelled to Epidauria, a small territory on the Saronic Gulf. People would travel from all over the Mediterranean to this location for medical treatment, making Epidauria the first destination known mostly for its medical tourism.
However some countries appear to be rather popular among medical tourism destinations.
Countries through the Far East and Pacific Rim have become popular destination for medical tourism. Places like India, Brunei, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand are leading the way in this region. In the Middle East, travel to Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Jordan and the UAE are growing in popularity with increases travel to South Africa and New Zealand for a wide range of medical treatments.
