Virgin Atlantic has come up with the idea of providing massage treatment onboard certain flights. The airline already employs beauty therapists who help travelers arrive at their destination looking fresh and relaxed. Travelers will also have to opportunity to make use of mini-manicure services.
According to Times Online Lyell Strambi, Virgin’s chief operating officer, said.
“All of our inflight beauty therapists will be offered a job as cabin crew or elsewhere within the airline if the review concludes that the onboard service should be withdrawn. The airline is currently consulting with our staff and their union about the review of its inflight beauty service.”
This services will be provided only on some flights into and out of Heathrow. People seem to be rather interested in this service. Some passengers were even ready to get their names registered and agree to be woken for treatment if they were asleep.
As The Times reports, despite rising fuel costs, Virgin Atlantic aims to hold its place among competitors.
Soaring fuel costs, increasing competition pushing fares down, and the added cost of airport security and landing fees mean airlines across the globe are tightening their belts. This puts Virgin in a difficult position, the airline has long distinguished itself with its fun, quirky services and removing them would not go down well with its Upper Class passengers, for whom an inflight massage has become as much a part of their flight as a pre-take off glass of champagne…
