Airline Internet Access
In order to both entertain and earn more revenue from passengers, American Airlines has planned to introduce Internet access on their flights. During long journeys, passengers will be able to connect to the internet, check their email, and even download videos.
AOL money& finance reports that access to the Internet will be dependent on the length of the flight length, but will probably be in the region of $9.95 to $12.95.
The airline will begin charging for Internet service soon on its Boeing 767-200 jets that fly from New York to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami.
American’s technology partner, Aircell LLC, will provide the service and according to StarTribune, both companies will share in the profit.
In case the first test is a success, Aircell will be implementing the service with other Airlines.
Aircell is also working with Virgin America, and JetBlue Airways Corp. started testing free e-mail, instant-messaging and some Amazon.com services aboard one of its planes in December.
