If you are tired of sitting around wherever you live during the Summer and are thinking of what might make a great vacation, then Hawaii could be the perfect place to visit. Any of the main islands offer an unforgettable holiday for those looking to enjoy the ocean breeze, hot sun and, perhaps most excitingly of all, the Aloha Festivals.
Held on an annual basis, the festivals usually take place from August-September, but in some islands they can last last even until mid October.
According to real travel, the celebration includes numerous events. This year’s theme, “Ke Kahua Lani o Hawai – honors Hawaii’s Beloved Royal Playground.”
As aloha-hawaii.com reports, the first festivals, which include parades, hulas and endless parties, were held at Kawaiahao Church in Honolulu. The festivals are supported by public funds and donations and the main goal is to keep Aloha spiritual values alive.
Expanded to the Aloha Festivals in 1991, the event now encompasses some 300 events on six islands spanning a two-month period. Nearly 30,000 volunteers work together to stage the various events, which are attended by nearly a million people each year.
