Even if you have good medical, auto and home insurance, you may not be insured during your trips abroad. Many unpredictable things may happen that cannot be covered by your insurance back home.

If you are either a traveler or a businessman who is always in flight, you should think about buying travel insurance.

The most common risks that are covered by travel insurance are:

Medical expenses

Emergency evacuation

Overseas funeral expenses

Accidental death, injury or disability benefits

Delayed departure

Cancellation

Loss of luggage or money

Delayed baggage

Personal liability and rental car damage

Some travel policies also provide coverage for additional costs, though this differs between providers.

Often separate insurance can be purchased for specific issues such as:

Pre-existing medical conditions

High-risk sports

Travel to high-risk countries (wars, natural disasters, acts of terrorism)

If you’re planning for a trip think about getting travel insurance. If you decide to do so first evaluate the current insurance you have, such as home, auto, health, life, property, dental and umbrella policies. Then, find out what travel health insurance coverage you have on these policies. There are several homeowners insurance policies and rental policies that can cover your personal property and liability anywhere in the world. Thus, if you’re already covered there’s no need to pay again.

In short if you want to have a nice trip without any obstacles and large expenses that will ruin your travels, purchase travel health insurance and have a nice trip.

Believe it or not, it is indeed sometimes.

Recently, a French flight attendant found a winning code for a competition to fly into sub-orbital space on board a new spacecraft in her Kit-Kat.

She first didn’t see that only after two hours, she went back to the trash to get the wrapper back and, to her great surprise, she was the one to win. She got the candy from a local supermarket, though she never thought that she would ever win.

As GADLING reports, “Ms. Epron is scheduled to get four days of astronaut training at Rocketplanes headquarters in Oklahoma then will be on one of the first flights scheduled in 2010.”

A spokeswoman for Nestle later confirmed that Ms. Epron had indeed won the prize as part of a competition being run by the company in France, according to SKY NEWS. “Ms. Epron told France Info radio that ‘for someone who works in air travel it’s really a dream come true.’”

Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic is expected to be the first company to provide sub-orbital space flights to the general public, although an official launch date has not yet been set.

Airlines seem to be reducing as many employees as they can for the sake of their companies. The so-called “best care in the air,” Midwest Airlines, announced on Monday that it is going to cut via furloughs and layoffs almost 40 percent of its current workforce–about 1,200 employees. It will also be grounding all of its MD-80 aircraft. According to GADLING:

Sad news for a small airline that is struggling to make its mark in the ultra competitive and expensive market that currently is the airline industry. Will they make it through the oil surge?

Other bad news is a shortage of passengers flying Midwest. Despite the fact that seats are nice, made from leather and spacious, and free food and beverages are offered, there is a very limited number of people on the plane. That is because of the rumors about the airline going under. It seems like the company has to take serious measures to earn its passengers’ confidence.

That will happen in the future. Now, Midwest is busy with another affair. As PRNewswire reports, Midwest will start notifying affected employees that reductions will take the form of furloughs or position eliminations, depending on job function.

“In order to successfully restructure, there is no way to avoid deep and painful reductions to our current workforce,” said Timothy E. Hoeksema, chairman and chief executive officer. “We will go about this task with compassion and dignity…”

Nowadays it seems like security systems are delivering high level services everywhere, protecting the possessions of customers and employees.

However, strange as it may sound, airports are not that protected, as many of the largest and medium-sized U.S. airports have recently reported the loss of approximately 637,000 laptops each year, according to the Ponemon Institute survey released Monday.

Laptops are most commonly lost at security checkpoints, according to the survey.

According to PC World, travelers hardly ever have confidence that they will get back lost laptops.

About 77 percent of people surveyed said they thought they would never recover the lost laptops, with 16 percent saying they wouldn’t do anything if they lost their laptops during business travel. About 53 percent said that laptops contain confidential company information, with 65 percent taking no steps to protect the information.

As NetworkWorld.com reports, there are several steps to take in order to avoid losing your laptop. You should first of all mark your laptop. Sure, nobody likes doing so, but thieves are ready when it concerns valuable possessions. You can put a sticker on the laptop to quickly identify it.

And keep in mind that a business card should not be taped on your laptop. “Do not become a target by letting potential laptop thieves know just how valuable your laptop may be,” the article reads.

But in case you eventually lose it, despite all these precautions, the first thing to do is to contact TSA immediately. Call the airport. Take action, and believe that you have a 9 percent chance of getting it back.

The company endured two emergency flight landings–one on Sunday and the second on Monday. Luckily, there were no injuries.

The reason for the early landing was technically related. The Sunday flight from Tampa to Detroit had to make a landing in Dayton, Ohio because a computer controlling one of the engines malfunctioned. As GADLING reports:

The flight originated in Tampa and was bound for Detroit. The crew decided to land when one of the computers connected to an engine failed. The pilot landed at the nearest airport, which happened to be Dayton, as a precaution.

The air show at Dayton International Airport was stopped for about a half-hour while the plane landed on the runway during the festivities.

Then, two days later, a Northwest flight from Minneapolis to Chicago had to make an emergency landing in Madison, Wisconsin, when a gauge failure caused the pilot to think there had been a drop in cabin pressure. According to msnbc.com, “None of the 115 passengers or six crew members aboard the DC-9 were injured.”

Sometimes they make people feel good, and sometimes they’re so frustrating that we change our opinion about security worldwide. As was recently reported, a jet had to land because of a large hole on the right side of the plane near the wing.

A Boeing used by Qantas, the world’s second-oldest airline, was in flight with 346 passengers on Friday when it was shaken by an explosive bang. The jet descended rapidly before landing safely minutes later at the Manila airport.

As msnbc.com reports, when the plane hit the ground, oxygen masks dropped from the ceiling as debris flew through the cabin from a hole that had suddenly appeared in the floor. Luckily there were no injuries and only a few cases of nausea and eagerness to vomit were stated. No sign of panic was seen, and even an applause erupted as the plane touched down safely.

The police Aviation Security Group has shown its intentions in assisting the airline’s investigation, but there hasn’t been an approval on the part of the owners, chicagotribune.com reports.

“So far, they don’t want us to touch it, so we will respect the aircraft owner. But we will make our personnel available if they need assistance in the investigation,” he said.

Worried by the high number of veteran air traffic controllers who are hitting retirement age, the Federal Aviation Administration is busy recruiting, among other places, in high schools.

The FAA has also begun its recruitment efforts through online ads, like My Space, because of a severe staffing shortage and lack of experience among workers at its air-control towers.

As GADLING reports, the feds are even offering more than $100,000 in signing bonuses to newbies to draw them to the New York area’s five understaffed radar centers. They will immediately after the three month training period become staff.

Recently, there has already been one controller selected–a 20-year-old man with a bachelor’s degree in air-traffic control. But it’s not necessary for all new hires to have diplomas. They can be accepted straight out of 12th grade.

According to the New York Post, the new hires have already accepted the FAA bonus offers.

The new air-traffic-control hires “are a welcome edition to the TRACON staff,” said FAA spokesman Jim Peters, referring to the TRACONs in New York and New Jersey.

Some passengers are kicked off flights for their negligence to the personnel, being dropped off somewhere before their final destination, others have complaints concerning the in-service or the crew’s rudeness.

An American Airlines flight from Boston to Los Angeles was diverted to Oklahoma City on Friday after a passenger was subdued and tied for complying with flight regulations as he was trying to open the exit door, but while in flight.

At first, the guy came out naked from the lavatory, then after the crew’s remarks, he got dressed and went back to his seat. But not long afterwards he rebelled again, trying to undo the emergency door.

As chicagotribune.com announces, the pilot diverted the flight to Will Rogers World Airport where the man was removed and taken to a psychiatric center.

“He was taken into custody by the Oklahoma City Police Department and taken to a crisis center for a mental evaluation,” Johnson said.

Luckily, according to msnbc, members of the Major League Soccer team, the New England Revolution, were on the flight and helped subdue the passenger.

Sometimes people say that authorities have a much better attitude towards celebrities, rather than ordinary people. But as it turns out, it’s not always so, or at least in the case of Delta flights.

As GADLING reports, there was not any rudeness on the part of Carlos Olivero. He turned off his iPod, but refused to stow it. That should not have been a big deal to make an issue of, though.

Recently, a 18-year old Latino music heart throb Carlos Olivero was kicked off a Delta flight in Atlanta for negligence to the flight attendant, refusing to stow his iPod. The member of famous Latin pop band Menudo, a group that both Ricky Martin and Marc Anthony used to be in, didn’t comply with Delta flying regulations. A security team was called on board and the singer was eventually escorted off the plane together with his mom.

According to People, the five-member group took another flight, but without their tech crew since there weren’t enough seats. When they arrived on site of their Festival, they performed songs from their upcoming album, but the group improvised. Also their technical equipment did not operate well.

The group was surprised, as they’re on a plane nearly every day flying from one concert appearance to another. But nothing like this has never occurred before.

Nevertheless, a Delta rep wasn’t immediately available for comment.

Texas, the second largest state in the United States both in territory and population, draws a lot of tourists from all over the world each year. The name Texas means “friendship,” and I think it’s not by chance. Not only are tourists the welcome guests of this wonderful state. There are also a lot of people seeking permanent residence here, and there are a number of reasons for it.

The main reason perhaps is it being a world of cowboys. And it would be a crime if you leave Texas without going to a rodeo. If Texas rodeos do not satisfy your interests and you want to experience real cowboy life, go and spend a few days on a dude ranch. Ride on horseback, enjoy great Texan food and listen to old cowboy tales around the fire. All this will give you great pleasure as you yourself will live in the cowboy era.

Texas, otherwise called the Lone Star State, is also a known for its wonderful nature–hills, mountains, seacoasts and forests. It is also considered to have the best and most beautiful beaches in the US.

The capital of the state, Austin, is a world of festivals, live music and nightlife, with more than 100 restaurants, bars and clubs. It is also the movie-making center of Texas.

For these and other various reasons the population of Texas is increasing. And this state has accommodations to welcome all visitors–hotels, condominiums and houses for rent. It even offers “residences” for your belongings, like self storage Austin, storage Dallas, self storage Houston and others.

Thus, Texas has all the reasons to be a tourism center and all the chances to hold the title of the most friendly and interesting state in the US.
