The Maldives, or the Maldive Islands, is an island nation located in the Indian Ocean, located 700 kilometers southwest of Sri Lanka, in the Laccadive Sea. The gorgeous landscapes, the emerald green nature combined with the azure water of this paradise makes this country a hot spot for green vacations in southern Asia.
The country is composed of 26 natural atolls, which are ring-shaped islands of coral. The origin of the word “atoll” comes from the natives. It is now largely used in many other languages.
In a land like this you can completely forget about household troubles and everyday fuss. The whole atmosphere makes you feel easy and walk with light steps on ground covered by rich green exotic plants, the majority of which are uncommon for every traveler. The Maldives also offers sailing travel opportunities.
No trip to the islands would be complete without water diving. Fortunately, the waters around the Maldives disclose the wonders of the undersea world. It’s not every day that you can be surrounded by different marine life with various colors, shapes, sizes such as species of turtles, echinoderms, crustaceans, sharks and others. Obviously the ecosystem is quite diverse. And even a single trip there will give you a chance to get acquainted with new species that you never imagined existed.
You will not bypass the water plants either: sea grasses, algae and sponges. But the Maldives is especially rich with corals. Yes, the water world is magical.
However, the ecological tourism is not all that makes the Maldives different from any other island. The uniqueness of the place is not only due to the magnificent panorama, but some other customs as well. The Maldives enjoy their weekend on Friday and Saturday. From Sunday till Thursday people work from 9:00 to 5:00 in the private sector and from 8:00 to 4:00 in the government sector. It gives them a chance to have a longer pass time in the open air.
The Maldives is visited by numerous tourists from all over the world. So do not hesitate to spend your most relaxing, impressive and memorable vacations in this unique heaven, in other words in a land untouched by man.
