When I first heard about Jackson airport the first idea that struck my mind was that it was named after my favorite singer, Michael Jackson. But after I spent two minutes looking for some information about it, I found out that the only thing that the airport and my favorite singer have in common is the last name.

Anyway, the airport had already attracted my attention and I kept on reading articles about it.

Jackson (founded in 1829) is a city situated in Michigan. It is actually named after President Andrew Jackson.

Until 1984, Jackson airport was used only for commercial service, but since then it has operated general aviation services.

As you probably know from personal experience, traveling by air is one of the most nerve-racking and irritating things that you have to go through these days, especially while in the airport. Here’s some tips that you can use to make your air travel a bit more pleasant and entertaining.

• Pack light. Bring along only the essentials. The more baggage you have, the more likely will be the possibility of facing complications and problems.
• Check the content of your baggage. There is a list of things that are prohibited to carry. Sometimes you may even not know that your luggage contains them. So please take your time and check your baggage, before it’s checked in the airport.
  Prohibited items include sharp objects (scissors, swords, knives), sporting goods (arrows, baseball and cricket bats), guns and firearms, tools (hammers, screwdrivers) and explosive materials.
• Wear the right clothing. Today security is high, especially in Jackson airport. So dress normally and comfortably. And avoid carrying metal in your pockets, even if you think it’s a small, “innocent” tool. The security screeners can take it for a weapon. So, be careful!
• Get there on time. If you arrive late or only 30-40 minutes prior to departure time, you most likely won’t fly. Why? Because you will need to check your bags and go through security, so the plane may not wait. So, you should get arrive at the airport about two hours early.

By the way, if you’re wondering what you are supposed to do in the airport for almost two hours, don’t worry. Jackson Hole Airport offers good solution for that — you can spend some time in their restaurants or visit the gift shops, where you can buy different souvenirs. There’s even a book store.

So, Jackson Hole airport does its best to accommodate you if you’re connecting through Jackson to another destination or are even flying from the city for the first time. Have a good journey!
