Almost every airline has now started to make more money from their flights. Now, despite the option being meant to save both time and money, some airlines, especially Spirit Airlines, are planning to charge for tickets booked online.
According to Gadling, customers will have to pay over $5 for a central seat, $10 for the aisle, and $15 to sit by the window.
Online seat selection is not required as you can do that when you check in at the airport. However, that also means that you might be separated from those traveling with you. Regardless, the new move is an attempt to increase revenue without having to raise fares.
As smarter TRAVEL reports, booking online doesn’t spare you from the risk of losing your seat if the plane is overbooked.
Flying Spirit is very much like buying a car: You can purchase the bare-bones base model, basically four wheels and an engine, but you’ll have to pay extra if you want leather seats or more air bags.
So if you are planning to fly with Spirit Airlines, be warned.
