As has been increasingly common in recent months, many airlines have started to cut flights because of the rising fuel costs. Others such as United are starting to cut jobs — almost 900 in fact.
Others, however, appear to be in a different situation. As GADLING says, for example, that Southwest Airlines has announced the cutting of 31 flights, but at the same time the addition of 40 others.
Southwest plans to do this by keeping two planes it had originally planned to retire. That means that the number of aircraft Southwest is adding this year will be 15.
As CNN Money.com quotes the airline’s Chief Executive.
“We have a much different story to tell today than our competitors,” Chief Executive Gary Kelly said in a statement. “We are well prepared financially… [and] we are still growing.”
