Hole In Jet Fuselage Causes Emergency Landing

Sometimes they make people feel good, and sometimes they’re so frustrating that we change our opinion about security worldwide. As was recently reported, a jet had to land because of a large hole on the right side of the plane near the wing.

A Boeing used by Qantas, the world’s second-oldest airline, was in flight with 346 passengers on Friday when it was shaken by an explosive bang. The jet descended rapidly before landing safely minutes later at the Manila airport.

As msnbc.com reports, when the plane hit the ground, oxygen masks dropped from the ceiling as debris flew through the cabin from a hole that had suddenly appeared in the floor. Luckily there were no injuries and only a few cases of nausea and eagerness to vomit were stated. No sign of panic was seen, and even an applause erupted as the plane touched down safely.

The police Aviation Security Group has shown its intentions in assisting the airline’s investigation, but there hasn’t been an approval on the part of the owners, chicagotribune.com reports.

“So far, they don’t want us to touch it, so we will respect the aircraft owner. But we will make our personnel available if they need assistance in the investigation,” he said.
