BA Moving More Flights To Heathrow Terminal 5
As has been already announced, British Airways will move about a quarter of its flights from Terminal 4 to the new Terminal 5 on June 5. The changes will affect eight long-haul destinations such as New York and Phoenix in the U.S, Abuja and Lagos, Nigeria; Bangalore, India; Beijing; Cairo, Egypt; and Cape Town, South Africa.
According to MSNBC, British Airways has even been planning to move all of its flights to Terminal 5. However, it decided not to because of an increased number of cancelled flags and lost bags.
British Airways had originally intended to shift all flights from other terminals at the airport to Terminal 5 in just a couple of days at the end of April, but that plan was curtailed by a raft of problems at the new facility that led to hundreds of cancelled flights and lost bags.
Yahoo News quotes British Airways Chief Executive Willie Walsh explaining that the move would occur in phases.
“We have taken this decision in the interests of customers, who remain our priority at all times,” he said. “Terminal 5 is now working well, and we are pleased we can confirm our plan to move in some additional flights on June 5.”
